What is the Journey of the Soul? What are your beliefs regarding those aspects of the life of one's soul apart from this present physical life?
I started this discussion in response to questions raised in another, on reincarnation and a soul attaching to two lives at once. It is my understanding that the soul does reincarnate, attaching to a succession of lives, processing the lessons of each. It is not our human selves that reincarnate but the composite, so to speak. Each human life has its own soul, and while others may "visit", they do not inhabit the body. I believe it not possible for a soul to learn all that can be learned in a physical existence in one lifetime, that many are required.

It is good to hear from you Lisa. Perhaps I did not so much ask a specific question as open a broad discussion of the journey of the soul. It is my understanding that we are one world among many, and that a spirit, or soul, generally returns to the same physical world for most lifetimes, because of the accretion of learning that is afforded, the repeated opportunities to return with others, and the collective responsibility for the course of that world's history. This world is considered one of the most beautiful but also of a more rigouress climate than most. I think it credible that what we think we know about the cosmos would be considered very elementary by those to whom you refer. tessalynne

Hi Lisa, it took me a minute to connect love, blue with your avatar, I like it. It is my understanding that your soul's connection/attachment to you is complete, all past lives having been processed and integrated before another is begun. While it is not the case that two spirits inhabit the same body, others are often close, both those who do not have a physical life at the time, and also those who do, for the attachment to a human life does not prevent brief periods away. These visitors may be spirits to whom you have been close in this life or in the spirit world, or the spirits of people you are soon to be in your life. They may be there to offer support, to draw strength from your spirit or to share aspects of your life. tessalynne

Much as the idea of trees having souls is appealing, it is my understanding that they do not, though spirits might inhabit an inanimate object very briefly for a specific purpose. I do think that trees can be very important, symbolically, for many of us, and that often our souls respond, recognizing in our longing.....searching.....connecting.....to the qualities of a tree (strength, serenity, endurance, beauty) that which strikes a chord. tessalynne

Hi Lisa, just wanted to share some thoughts, images on trees, such an elemental force and in fact a large part of what keeps the planet alive. Some of my favorite images are: the lone cottonwood on the prairie, sign post, beacon, shelter for miles around; aspens, the whisper of the leaves in the wind, the solidarity of hundreds of contrasting white and black trunks; and bonsai junipers high on a mountain, drawing sustenance from what appears to be rock, years of slow, concentrated growth, not to many what would appear beautiful, but I see in them a beauty that I have seen in people for whom life has been rugged, but with deep roots able to persevere, to accept life, to make the most out of all that is, sustained from within as they face the elements. As I write this I know that I have not applied their lesson as much as I might have, and resolve to do better. I could think of other examples, but regarding the tree in relationship to the journey of the soul, I see each lifetime as offering a new environment, each with its challenges, each with its delights. tessalynne

Yes. To create perfection ("to our image" Genesis 1 :26) this process was needed. We are living things out...establishing proofs about what is. Never in the futur this will be needed cause it will have been established once and for all. (Read Isaiah 43:8-10 "Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes,those who are deaf, even though they have ears!All nations gather together,the peoples assemble.
