It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed…

From Dom Sylvester Houédard :
Therefore I pray to God to make me free of God, - now that, perhaps, is one of the most famous sayings of Eckhart and possibly the one which has been most misunderstood, but it is exactly what Ibn 'Arabi and the whole of Christian tradition says: that the highest knowledge of God is to know that He is unknowable and to know that He is unknowable is still positive theology. It is no good knowing that God is unknowable, you have to stop knowing. To have a concept of…

I just read Kathryn Hulme's Gurdjieff recollection - "The Undiscovered Country: A Spiritual Adventure" where she tells about her life and search and among other things, describes the last meeting with Gurdjieff in 1949. She said that after having a little bit too much to drink she had started telling a story about a 4-year old who crossed the Atlantic all by herself...
I accidentally found the actual voice recording of her telling that story and Gurdjieff's reaction on the Web - i did not even…

This nerdy and ignorant comment is inspired by page 13 of Bennett’s “Deeper Man” regarding this notion that in the physical world, or the world of function, “we are dealing with how things behave, not with what they are.” I am trying to convince myself that this is, in fact, true.
Building block of life are elementary particles associated with either matter or force. OK, let's start with matter, how is it defined? Matter is usually defined in terms of mass and volume and something about radiati…

Shivapuri Baba, also known as Swami Govindanath Bharati, was a Hindu saint who reportedly lived from 1826 to 1963, making him 137 years old at the time of his death.
According to the biography written by John G. Bennett, Long Pilgrimage - The Life and Teaching of the Shivapuri Baba, Shivapuri Baba was bo…

Dear Friends,
This is a reminder notice about the upcoming weekend intensive at Claymont during July 16 – 19, 2009. The theme for the weekend is "Presence and Prayer".
In this three-day weekend devoted to spiritual inner work, we will delve into the two great streams of practice: presence and prayer. Beyond all the methods, what is the essence of presence? Beyond all the forms, what is the essence of prayer? Exploring these questions experientially, working with the inner energies involved, we…

"I am already given to the power that rules my fate. And I cling to nothing, so I will have nothing to defend. I have no thoughts, so I will see. I fear nothing, so I will remember myself. Detached and at ease, I will dart past the Eagle to be free.”

The Work says that as long as we enjoy chiefly negative emotions we are cut off from all contact with Higher Centres. I assure you that at a certain stage of the Work even a moment's indlulgence of negative emotion towards others will cause you to lose force and even destroy for the time being everything that you aimed at in the Work - sense...
As was said once, to become thoroughly negative is like an explosion in a delicate chemical laobratory through which everything that is being made, being…

struggling lately - I was starting - well, I still am, to feel optimistic about my future life after the difficulties of the last years - but have been almost brought to a standstill after a really bad fall over a pothole and kerb!! - which, after an equally heavy fall last year, has aggravated an injury from an accident 25 years ago. To cap it all, I cut my foot so can barely walk or move at all just now. That is taking a while to heal and I am all bound up!
I am thinking that nothing happens…

I have been caring for my mother and she caring for me these past nearly five years since my husband died. She helped me so much recovering from my husbands passing and in dealing with the business we ran together, which finally had to be given over to someone else. This last year, her health and mine were not good. She was going downhill and very worn and tired - though still so vibrant. She then was unwell for a couple of days, then had a heart attack - one day after being in intensive care, h…

Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi departed from this world in Konya, on December 17, 1273. The evening sky burned red as men and women of various religions pressed through the swelling crowd to touch the green cloth that covered his wooden coffin. The day of Rumi's death has become known as the Shebi Arus, Wedding Night, the occasion when Rumi was finally united with his Beloved, God, in eternal life. This image first appeared in a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad who said that we will approach the Lord as…

To all,
Your unique energetic configuration informs you of the unfoldment of your Self within form. A complete embrace of all that is delivered to your awareness presents the availability of the true resources of being that are yours and that are expressions of love for every facet of yourself.
The invitation to bring forth into illuminated awareness all that is yours, all that has been held or carried into ripeness, and is desiring to reside in the acceptance of the entirety of your beingness…

I feel very lost right now - so many responsibilities and so much to do that is tiring and difficult - to find time for spiritual practice is soooo difficult. I do feel at different times during the day, a tuning in to the infinite, very very temporary - and I know I am on a life's path that is the right one. I just feel that, even as I give myself to this pathway and a lot of the time, enjoy it greatly, appreciate the small things, that I am scattered, not in touch, unable to centre and clear m…

BUT, people just dont seem to be logging in? would be great if members logged in at least every few days - I have problems with organised religion - though I appreciate organised religion as well. I do read many of the verses from the bible, buddhist themes and things - but feel as if I 'belong' to any religion in particular, it somehow boxes off my spiritual life. Now why is this...:(................Cathrynn X
