Dear Friends,

This is a reminder notice about the upcoming weekend intensive at Claymont during July 16 – 19, 2009. The theme for the weekend is "Presence and Prayer".

In this three-day weekend devoted to spiritual inner work, we will delve into the two great streams of practice: presence and prayer. Beyond all the methods, what is the essence of presence? Beyond all the forms, what is the essence of prayer? Exploring these questions experientially, working with the inner energies involved, we will seek to strengthen our presence, deepen our prayer, and engage with the overlooked but central role of will in presence and in prayer.
Ultimately they connect, as the sacred becomes present through us. This understanding enlivens our journey toward that connection by raising the level of our presence and extending the reach of our prayer. Please join us in seeking new understanding and a deeper approach to inner work.

Joe Naft and Matt Zenkowich will facilitate the weekend, along with Deborah Rose Longo (movements) and Andrea Naft (art). Joe is the author of several books including the forthcoming Becoming You: Cultivating Spiritual Presence and the web site www.innerfrontier.org. He is a Sherborne graduate and has led spiritual practice groups for over 30 years. Matt is a Claymont course graduate and has been active there for many years, currently serving on the Claymont Society Board of Directors. He works for the Department of Energy in Washington, DC as a program manager.
Deborah, a Claymont graduate, teaches movements internationally.
Andrea is a Sherborne graduate, teacher, and artist.

Activities for the weekend will include the inner work of presence, silent prayer and meditation, Gurdjieff’s “Movements” or sacred dances, presence and prayer through art, and practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and outdoor work in presence. It will all begin with dinner on Thursday evening and end on Sunday afternoon. Full-time participation is required unless prior arrangements have been made in advance. Please let us know of your intention to attend as soon as possible.
